HITA 2024 - Web Metrics

Web page metrics are crucial for evaluating website performance and quality, yet they are often overlooked. This study analyzes Webby Awards data (2017–2022) to classify websites as high or low quality using six critical performance indicators and sixteen quality indicators. Key metrics include speed index, total blocking time, time to interactivity (TTI), cumulative layout shift, and first contentful paint (FCP). The study employs a robust prediction algorithm to assess website quality, offering insights into optimizing web design for better user engagement and performance. Findings contribute to enhancing modern web development practices for improved online experiences.
